As of December 2022, the Royal Hallamshire Hospital has the second-lowest safety rating on the scale, which is "Requires Improvement".
The regulator carried out this inspection following a Warning Notice served under Section 29A of the Health and Social Care Act, which ordered the hospital to "make significant improvements in the quality of healthcare provided".
The regulator stated that further improvement is required as equipment "was not clearly identified as being clean".
The regulator further stated that:
- "People could not always access services when they needed them and receive the right care promptly".
- "There remained a backlog of serious incidents requiring investigation."
When the Royal Hallamshire Hospital was served the Warning Notice, their safety rating was Inadequate. With this inspection, their rating improved only one point, to Requires Improvement.
